Unusual Experiences In The Snow

Winter does not have to be just the time when the recall with nostalgia their summer vacation and eagerly watching when the spring is coming. Just go to the mountains, where you can find a lot of extraordinary experiences. Among the most impressive are undoubtedly the rides, dog sledding, skijoring or snowkiting, which we introduce you in this article.

Ride with dog sled or mushing is a sport that you might know from documentary films about the polar expeditions. Perhaps you may be little surprised, that the same experience you can also enjoy yourself, in Krkonoše centres, such as Pec pod Sněžkou, Vrchlabí,  Žacléř. Just enough of snow, which in the period from December to April should not be a problem.

Rides with dog sledding Alaskan breed of Husky are offered under the supervision of an experienced instructor. You'll get a short lesson how to properly connect the harness and dog sled and how its control works. You can choose to what extent you want to actively participate in dogs leading.

A great experience can also be a night ride through the snowy Krkonoše, when you do not have to worry that you will be blocked by cross-country skiers. Aljaska Husky dogs are very peaceful and affectionate breed, and therefore may be driving a dog team also great reward for your children – instructor may even trust them to lead the dogs.

If you like cross-country skiing and know ice-skating basics, then you can try skijoring. Under this foreign word lies skiing pulled by dogs. Under non - stop observation by an instructor, you can go on a 10-25 km ride in harness with one or two dogs.

For lovers of winter extreme sports is sport called snowkiting. This time you will not pull by dogsled when skiing, but you'll use the natural power of the wind. With the kite, you can easily move around lowland plains, and you can even go uphill. In the Czech mountains dominate most of favourable conditions for the operation of this unusual activity.

To snowkiting you need just your own skis or snowboard, all others equipment you can rent. You can participate in 1 or 2-day course, where you will learn something about right handling of the towing kite. You will also receive practical training of starts, acceleration, change of directions, avoidance, upwind or jumps.
