Oberstdorf is an important spa and ski centre.This place is famous especially thanks to Ski-Jumping Competition of „ Four Ski-Bridges Jumping Races“ taken place each year, which is the start of ski season at the same time. Anyway, only a few ski-jumpers are coming here for ski-jumping.

The lovers of winter sports prefer for skiing one of routes and slopes of Fellhorn, Sollreck or Nebelhorn, one of most consistent ski-localities in Alps, offering not only sport, but also relax and entertainment. So, everybody will be enthusiastic who visits at least one of seven marvellous valleys in Oberstdorf. Each valley is different but each has its unchangable charm and magic . As to climate conditions, this area belongs to those with longest sunshine in Bavaria.

The attractive position of Oberstdorf locality and neighbouring Kleinwalsertal at the end of Iller-Valley which deeply cuts to Allgau-Alps, this guarantees a popularity of most favorite skiresort in Germany. So, Oberaudorf is an ideal place for holiday all year round for younger as well as for older sportsmen who wish to have a relax, or for tourists, alpinists, skiers and snowboardists, cyclists (during summer season), etc.

The culture is combined in harmonically way with traditions of Alps customs in Bavarian style. The offer of ski-towages (in this German-Austrian area of Fellhorn/Kanzelwand) was improved in last years, especially as far as the technical point of view is concerned.

However, the greatest handicap is a fact that so called Black-descent route is missing. This would enlarge the scale of utilized slopes for experienced skiers, too. So, most of slopes are valued as midlle-difficult. On Nebelhorn, the terrain is more difficult, so everybody finds its optimum for ski-descent. The families use, of course, the offer of Sollreck, as Hollvieslift does not belong to easy ones. The beginners could have, at first, the problem how to climb to the top. Snowboardists will be pleased in Fellhorn, where two snowparks are available for them, further a snowpark near to Sollreck asx well as very popular U-rampe in Nebelhorn. The lovers of white trace can use the route of 75 kms long nest of ski-running routes (since 2005 – when World Campionship in Nordic Ski-running disciples was taken place here. It is true that since this time the routes are of first class quality). Some mountings are extended up to 15 m, so nobody can be hindered , it does not matter if you are beginner or experienced skier.

After skiing, we recommend you to visit Restaurant Maximilian´s. You taste her excellent traditional Bavarian kitchen meals but also other specialities. Hotel Traube offers, except other, musical performance which helps you while digesting your meals. This centre is taken as one of most luxurious not only in Germany, underlines a fact that here is a seat of casino. Provided you wish to spend extra sports-spectacors´experience, so visit Schattenbergschanze. It is ski-jumping area, consisting of big „Mammoth“ Ski-Jumping-Bridge (it is the second biggest of the world), further standard jumping-bridge and three small isolated bridges, one spectacor´s tribune (Erdinger area) with capacity of 24000 places. Anyway, the most famous is a big jumping-bridge, as here , since 1953, is regularly taken place each year famous „Four Ski-Bridges Jumping Races“ in time period shortly before the end of the year (on 30th December). For tourists there are an experience a walk in ravine Breitachklamm. After a walk or sportin activity, you can relax in climatic and health spas of Vital-dorf. Anyway, most of hotels offer Wellness or Beauty packets, suana of all types, styles and temperatures (incl. exotic aromatic sauna) – within the scope of Vital-Therme.
