Slovenia - Alps winter resorts
No wonder, local winter resorts are on the same level as localities in West Europe at least!Travelling to Slovenia takes approx. seven hours, and it is worth to go there. You can obtain six-days ski-pass for EUR 120,-, permanent tickets cost approx. the same amount as in Czech Republic winter resorts. Anyway, the service for skiiers and snowboardists is better and all slopes are arranged very well. Most popular and important winter resort is Kranjska Gora in Julské Alps mountain range. The community is placed in an altitude of 810 m of sea level. This winter resort is well-known especiallly thanks to competitions of World Cup in descent skiing. The winter resort centre you find on slopes of Vitrac Mountain (1570 m).
You find here 30 kms of well arranged descent routes of all stages of difficulties, four wire-rope railways. fourteen ski-towages on twenty ski-descent routes. Ski-running lovers find here more than 25 kms of running routes.
Further, we reccommend you to visit the resort of Maribor-Pohorje, placed in an altitude of 1375 m. The skiiers can enjoy 19 descent lines, wait a little at 14 ski-towages and use three wire-rope railways. Ski-runners can run along 20 kms long of ski-traces - 3,5 kms, 8 kms and 21,5 kms.
The best at the conclusion! Bled is a small town, situated in Slovenia at foot of Julské Alps, on a border of Triglav National Park. Its outskirs offer ideal conditions for summer touring. You find here many tourist attractions, as, for instance, a marvellous lake with a church and castle on an island in the middle. Bled Lake is one of most popular tourist centre of Slovenia. Anyway, Bled is not only classical winter ski and sports resort but it is a pearl on a crown of Alps Mountains.
As to skiing, you can make it in Bohinj area, offering cabin-funicolar and eight slopes of total length of 28 kms. Ski resort is Pokljuka, situated from 20 kms only. Anyway, the whole area around the biggest mountain peak of Slovenia - Triglav - can be taken as a real paradise for ski-runners and biathlonists.
In any case, do not underestimate this ski-power. It is time enough for visiting of this territory!
