This mountain town has a relatively interesting history, and is located on the Pintler Veteran's Memorial Scenic Highway, also known as Highway 1. This route is, by the way, an alternative to the more popular Interstate-90 for traveling between Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks.

After mining activity subsided, people gradually began to leave it. Most of the buildings in Granite Ghost Town are just ruins, but there are still interesting places to see, such as hospitals.
