Varadero was the last place we visited during our vacation. It is an ideal place to relax. The city is known for Hicacos, a spit of land with beautiful white sand beaches and clear water. When riding in a taxi collectivo from Trinidad, the ride takes about 3.5 hours with one break. And this ride was really unpleasant.
Short after noon, we reached the colonial city of Trinidad by taxi colectivos. The ride was truly thrilling as we hastily rode in an American car with nine seats without any seatbelts and with windows opened. I didn't know what should I worry about more – if we crash into someone or if the car could fall apart.
We travelled to Playa Larga from Habana, again. This time we did intend to make use of local taxi colectivos and spare some money. For here they celebrate the Labour Day, we had to find different alternative. Before we even had approached an information stall, a cab driver stopped us and suggested he would take us right to our address.
On the following day in the morning, we set off to Viñales karst valley. The name comes from the town of Viñales situated in the very valley. It is about 29 kilometers from Pinar del Río. The Cordillera de Guaniguanico is a relatively low mountain range situated in the area. It consists of woody hills of Sierra del Rosario and Sierra de los Órganos.
After our stay in Habana we were looking forward to travel west to Pinar del Río. We had booked accommodation and some trips at Casa Manuela, a guest house in downtown which treats you like if you were in a hotel. Food was great, rooms beautiful, many terraces with seating, and very kind staff. Through here we booked a ride from Habana. Everything went smoothly and on time. Moreover, we had probably the safest car of our entire vacation here.
We had a transfer flight in Amsterdam on our way to Habana. You have about an hour to transfer but it is a long way to Terminal 3. Therefore, be sure to not to loose much time. The flight takes 10 hours and 15 minuts. It is much up to the Cuban airport how long it is. Our landing was qite stresful for it had to be fast. However, Cubans then left us standing on the runway all this spared time. However, this is sort of an introduction to the way of life in Cuba.
Caribbean, where you can see - that is Varadero, the biggest local resort. Despite the annual onslaught of tourists keeps the mood full of passionate Cuban dance, nice people and Caribbean comfort. But do not expect Relaxing holiday here - at the Varadero's Alive!
Light a cigar, which on her thighs thick rolled Cuban woman, have the rum daiquiri from, which on plantations cultivated Cuban farmers, and let spoil you by Cuban salsa performed by Cuban beauties. What spoils the Cuban idyll? Maybe the fact, neither of Cubans, who represent it, never travel abroad and never search on the Internet.
