CZ, Domažlicko Region – On the V Zelenovském Údolí Nature Trail – VIDEO
The trip starts at the train station Domažlice město, from where I set out along the green trail around the Chapel of St. Anna on the hill Vavřineček. There is a nice pilgrimage church of St Lawrence, who allegedly founded in the 10th century Prince Boleslav. Around it stands majestic memorable linden trees.
At the crossroads I turn to the red trail and after a while I join the nature trail V Zelenovském údolí. The trail itself is about 10 kilometers long, and you can either walk it all, use the same circuit in combination with the green sign as I am, or just walk a short walk from the car park.
Along the way you pass 3 ponds. Zelenovský, Radošovský and the largest Strakovský, around which the trail forms a small circuit. You can also continue along the red trail to the village of Babylon, where you can find the Čertův Kámen stone and join another nature trail.
There are 12 interactive whiteboards on the trail, thematically dedicated to flora, fauna and ponds of the Zelenov Nature Park. At the same time, you can download the mobile application, where you can also hear the sounds of animals and you can remember the information later.
At the same time, the Zelenov Nature Park is one of the four localities in the Czech Republic, where the critically endangered crayfish stonemason is located, as well as the only place where it lives together with the river crayfish. Look around the stream very carefully.
I recommend to combine the trip with a tour of the town of Domažlice with a beautiful historic center. Do not miss the iconic Chodský castle and the Augustinian monastery.
Just near the mentioned village Babylon then begins the PLA Český Les Forest and from here you can set out on its highest peak Čerchov with a lookout tower on top. Alternatively, stop in the village of Kout na Šumavě with a chateau, fortress and a famous microbrewery. Rýzmberk hill with a castle ruin of the same name and a stone lookout tower rises directly above Kout.
The whole Chodsko region has a lot to offer and thanks to its location on the very edge of our country, so many people still do not come here. In nature you will enjoy peace and await a lot of beautiful unknown places to discover.
