Preserved Gothic castle compound is the main landmark in the town. It sits on a rock which will get closer once you are on your way. Becov, a castle and chateau at once, has seen vast renovation works since 2002. In 2018, the last stage will be finished. St Maurus Reliquary, one of the most precious gems in Czech Republic is stored in a chamber adjusted to have constant temperature. An hour-long lecture tells on its history and discovery. Regarding architecture, there is a fabulous garden to the chateau internally separated into six terraces. The garden is joined with the castle garden.

Karlovy Vary (Carlsbad) is situated in narrow valley, at confluence of Teplá and Ohře-rivers, inside afforested countryside of Iron Ore Mountains. The locality became famous though its medical treatment (cure) as well as with its mineral springs.
Bečov nad Teplou is situated in south direction from the town of Karlovy Vary (Carlsbad). The castle is placed above deep valley surrounded with high afforested hills, belonging to Slavkov Forest and Teplá Highlands. The castle is flown round from two parts by Teplá-river.
Three very popular place are scattered across the hills looming above the center of Marianske Lazne. You can get there either by following a nature trail, by cable car or by car. These places are: the Czech scaled sights park, Hamelika observation tower, and fairy-tale characters in the garden in front of Krakonos hotel.
No doubt, Karlovy Vary belongs to most beautiful Czech spa towns. Local thermal sources healed famous personalities of the past, such as: Tzar Peter the Great, Paganini, Mozart or Freud. The town is situated at confluence of Teplá and Ohře-rivers.
I get out of Pendolino on a beautifully renovatetrain station. This is how I imagine a gateway to the spa town - I wish there were all of them like this. From the station to the city center trolleybuses leave every twenty minutes. Its close by walk and I like to walk. Smaller houses gradually turn to magnificent villas and residences, the closer to the center, the more decorated.
Kynžvart Spa is located less than ten kilometres from Marienbad. With its more important neighbor, this city, which is without fountains, palatial houses and colonnades, is in complete contrast.
Besides Carlsbad is Marienbad (Mariánské Lázně) probably the best known Czech spa town. Named after the Virgin Mary it makes the saint's honour in the last years. There is quiet, beautiful, half-empty place, what is away from the necessary dynamics. The majority of visitors probably expect much more from this renowned city.
First written notice comes of 1061. In 1167, Cheb region was in ownership of Emperor Friedrich Barbarossa. Growing power of this Emperor was manifested by constructions of magnificent Emperor's seats, known as „Pfalz“. They were not constructed for defence purposes, on the contrary, they have to present Emperor's power.
It is a town where you can communicate in Czech as well as in German languages. It is a seat where spring finding place was made, at first as a colony of the town of Cheb, and after approval of public building project (on 27th April 1793), as a street village, including main avenue.
Late Gothic castle was founded by the lords of Osek. In the end of the 18th century, a Baroque chateau was built right next to it. It is the main reason why tourists even visit the city of the same name. Moreover, the Reliquary of St Maurus has been on display here since 2002.
