Famous folk song sings about the meeting point of the Elbe and the Vltava and about growing grapes on the slopes of Melnik. Many famous Czech singers such as Karel Gott also sing about it. His song is named Melnicka Polka. This area, however, is very important. As early as the 9th century, a fortified settlement existed here. Later it became a medieval town. A Romanesque castle and a basilica were where today’s chateau is located. There is an ossuary inside its crypt. Tourists are welcomed here. Those who are fond of this place return gladly.
