Last time we ceased our tour de Lille at Notre-Dame de la Treille. Let leave it for now and go down Rue de la Monnaie lined by amazing historic houses until we reach Rue Princesse. There we turn right to Maison natale Charles de Gaulle. Those of you who speak French a bit might have an idea what this place is. It is the house of birth of one of the most famous Frenchmen of all time – Charles de Gaulle.
The town of Lille is situated at the border with Belgium. Allegedly, it was founded in the mid-7th century as told by the legend of Lyderic and Phinaert.
We visit Toulouse one more time. This time we see Place du Capitole which is situated in the heart of the city. The square is vibrant and crowded. Usually, farm markets take place there as well as open air art exhibitions. Once, there were plastic cows painted by local artsist. They were sold in auction and the money was gifted to charity.
Deep in France, there is the city of Toulouse, the fourth largest in the country. Many, however, only drive by as they are headed to the Pyrenees or Languedoc.
When you walk in the historic center notice street art. Unlike other cities, it is without any political message which makes it rather pleasant and merry. Don't be surprised to see a panda drawing two revolwers, or half of a bicycle in a wall.
Montpellier is a major city of Departement Hérault in southern FranceCentrem jihofrancouzského departmentu Hérault je Montpellier. This city of 250 thousand spreads across hilly landscape at the Mediterranean Sea.
Lastly we enjoyed marvelous Avignon and now we wander down to the south to Hérault. It is a departement popular for its beaches on the Mediterranean coastline.
Already the last time we visited the beautiful Avigonon and we take a look at it today as well.
We remain in France. It is a country combining amazing nature, landmarks, good food and wine.
Last time we mentioned the unconditional surrender of Germany in Reims was celebrated with Champagne wine. This historic moment is commemorated by Musée de la Reddition. The building which houses the museum is the very same building where American General Dwight Eisenhower had his temporary HQ. There are photographs, strategic plans, or various military artifacts which you can see at the museum. The price is worth a shot - 4 euro for adults.
