Safety

The actual safety situation is, from military point of view, without any problem. The criminality level could be compared with those of European Union countries.

Caution: you are not recommended to show, at any moment of payment, your cash money. Local currency is „Tenge“. Regarding most used currency, it is USD, followed by EUR.

You are recommended to follow strictly all prescriptions and orders, especially when driving motor vehicles. The police requires, at any offence, the penalties, or hush-money, better to say, as you never receive the respective penalty receipt. If the police recognizes that you are foreigner, so they try to get from you cash payment in dollars.

As far as military areas or closed territories are concerned, the entrance there is absolutely excluded, without knowing or by mistake.

Further, you are recommended not to move alone outside towns. At least, two persons would travel together.
