Minning museum
Near to the town of Ostrava, there is situated Mining Museum OKD Landek, which is the greatest in the Czech Republic. It is placed in the community of Petřkovice, below Landek Hill. This consistent area has an extent of 10 ha, and this fact makes from this the greatest museum area of the whole Czech Republic.
The museum was open for public in December 1993, symbolically on name-day of St.Barbara, Saint patron of miners. This locality was proposed for putting on UNESCO survey. It containts preserved area of Anselm Mine. Except superficial exposition of machines and devices, underground presentation and subjects of mining rescue accessories, you can find here also the reconstruction of mammoth hunters´ dwelling house. Moreover, in the area, are to be found many sporting grounds, such as grounds for beach-volleyball, lawn-tennis courts, cycling-cross line or watermen and cable centre.
