Jihozápadní Město (South-West Park)
South-West Town Quarter of Prague is situated below low but important hill. It is Vidoule table hill, which shows how high chalk sea was situated, over today´s surface, 90 millions of years ago. When the era of house blocks construction was ended, a lot of building material remainded here, including useless soil and black dumping places. In 1980, there was established a park here. On several places, you find information tables. Small plates hung on trees, informing you about various sorts of trees. This park is to be found on a way from Vidoule to Prokop and Dalejské Valley. A small brook is flowing through, being kept with water-cleaning station. The birds are used that they get some food from people, walking around. The park is new, so the birds find in worse way a place for nesting, as the trees are too small. Nevertheless, when the leaves fall down, you can find birds´nests on some places. This educational route is without barriers, so even handicapped persons and cyclists can use it. Great heap of soil, which reminded here after house constructions, was arranged for mountain bikes. The entrance is allowed for your own danger, and the children are recommended, not to descend the heap at all. Along the route, there are many places for having a rest, including children play-ground. Over a pond in a park, there is led underground tubus. It leads to Hůrka underground station. From here, you can get comfortably and quickly. This route is passable all year round. In winter period, there is possibility of skating on ponds.
