Kokořínsko region
On this path, you can see freestone sandstones, which are a reminder of ancient sea. The sandstone rocks were established from a sand based on its bottom. Volcanic activity was influenced, in the course of rugosity, as a consequence of stone presses. Anyway, this activity was lower as in near situated Bohemian Highlands. Despite this fact, lava penetrated the surface on several places. Original forests, which are to be found here, there are pine-oak forests and oak-hornbeam forests, and on rocky base, relict groves. On the other hand, alder groves prevail along banks of brooks. In deep valleys, you find original fir-woods. Afforesting, which was effected during 19th and at the beginning of 20th century, has, as a consequence, prevailing fir-and pine monocultures. You can find here 39 sorts of wooden trees, but 15 sorts are not of local origin. 50 years ago, the meadows in valleys stopped to be cultuvated. Now, alder grows and wetted places are to be found here, and, so, they create communities not distant from original corpse.Three sorts of crayfish live in brooks as there is very pure, not polluted, water here.
