After 1905, great development of the town of Poděbrady begun, when the springs of local mineral water were discovered. The castle is situated just at the banks of Labe (Elbe) river, and so, the water was not available in great depth. In 1722, there were discovered here small spa at iron-containing spring. However, there was no interest, so, the spa ceased to exist later.
The path leads along blind branch of Labe-river - Skupice. This branch is 2-3 metres deep. This fact is caused by sluice, increasing the respective water-level. You can follow here yellow flowers of iris-plant. In past, meadow forests appeared here. Its undergrowth served as nesting places for birds. On water level, you can see wild duck or black moor-hen. Local water is a home of muddy crayfish and green fog or croaking fog. This place is also favourable for adders.
The path leads on right bank of Elbe-rive, returning back to your starting point.
