In town-quarter Karlovy Vary-Hůrky, there is placed 638 metres high hill. On its top, there is to be found Neo-Gothic building of Goethe View. The look-out-tower is 42 metres high construction with observation platform in the height of 34 metres. This view offers nice outlook on the town of Karlovy Vary. Some place of interest presents also access road from Hůrky up to Goethe View. The road was constructed just in 1804, and was declared as technical monument. You can reach the view also on foot, following yellow marked tourist path. The view could also be reached from bus stop.
Goethe View is the oldest look out tower in Karlovy Vary. Its construction is dated to time period of 1888-1889. The project was effected by famous architects Fellner and Hellmer. In 1918, the look-out tower was re-named to Stifter View, and after 2nd World War, to Stalin View. The actual name, i.e. Goethe View, comes from 1960. After partial reconstruction, the building was re-open for public again in 2002. At present, this look out tower is closed again, as the reconstruction work continue.
