History
The laying of basic stone was effected on 10th July 1926, on occasion of visit of President T.G.Masaryk. The construction (project) was made according the project of architect František Blažek. Anyway, the building realization was made by architect Jindřich Malina. In first years, the building was made quite quickly, first of all, thanks to enthusiasm of all participating persons. Much of work was done free of charge (without a claim for rewards). Statue decoration was made by Jan Vávra and Karel Lenhart. This project was calculated with total height of 40 metres. Thanks to this fact, it could serve as air - lighthouse on airplane route Prague-Warsaw. However, in 1938, the construction was terminated at the height of 28 metres. In 1992, there was placed here, nearby look-out-tower, group of statues Legions behind frontiers, the work of František Duchač -Vyskočil.
At present, the look ouit tower serves as memorial place. You find here monuments of victims of both world wars as well as victims of Communism.
