Staroboleslavská Brána (Stará Boleslav Gate)
Nerby the river: Elbe
This gate is is the last preserved gate of former fortificated nucleus of the town of Stará Boleslav. The walling comes from middle of 14th century, when Emperor Charles IV. let to renovate the fortifications, built by King Boleslav I.
The gate passage reminds Gothic building art, however, the gate is just furnished with vault in Baroque style. Even the highest, third floor, is a result of later reconstruction.
Still in 1930, the road led throughout the gate, and the building was architectonically joined with building of „Blue Star“ Pub. However, the passage was very bad, so the pub was demolished and the road was changed outside the passage. Since that time, the gate served as a granary.
Since 1965, the gate serves as a museum.
