Mariánské Lázně - Czech republic
Mariánské Lázně (Spa) is situated in west part of Czech Republic, Slavkov Forest Valley, Karlovy Vary (Carlsbad) Region, in an altitude of 620 metres above sea level. The effects of local healing springs are known from ancient times. Preserved written notice, regarding investigation of its composition comes of 1528. First stone building was constructed here in 1805, nearby Křížový pramen (Cross Spring) and its name was Zlatá koule (Golden Globe). At the beginning of 19th century, there was established here, within twenty years only, spa town in Neo-classical style. On place of originally wild valley, there were created, by means of garden architects, vast English parks including altans, lakes and fountains. Many inhabitated balneology houses are typical with its Art-Deco elements of beginning of 20th century, from a period of further building development. At present, all buildings are newly reconstructed, and there are offered here balneology services by means of many enterpreneur bodies. Nearly one hundred healing sources are springing up on relatively small area, whereas forty mineral sources are welling up directly here. All sources are cold, carbonic mineral waters, with a temperature moving from 7 up to 10° C. The difference in chemical composition of sources enables treatment of many diseases of various organs. Some sources are suitable also to drinking treatments or are used as table waters. In spa environs, there are appearing stratta of hardly mineralized sulphur-iron swamps and healing Mary gas. Mariánské Lázně Spa is suitable for treatment of moving apparatus, urological and gynecological diseases, disturbances of metabolism and neurological troubles. The visitors have available wellness procedures as well as relax programmes.
