This national nature reservation is situated in cadastre of community of Tatranska Javorina in Prešov region. The valley was formed by glaciers. It has the extent of 166,1 ha and is branched into three other Tatra valleys, such as: Biele plesa (White Lakes), Predne Meďodoly and Zelené pleso (Green Lake).
