Along the route, you can meet many karst formations. At the top of Zlatý kůň (Golden Horse), several bores are to be found. Water penetrates quickly under the earth. Thanks to this fact, rocky steppes with calcite flowers were established here. Limestones in Koněprusy are very fine, so, they are being used for production of limes, or during sugar refination in chemical works. In past, the excavaions were effected in much more quarries. At present, the mining is made in one grand-quarry only. Moreover, nature protectors prevented completely the construction of cement factory. In past, Middle Age forge workshop was placed in Koněprusy caves. In caves, you can find nice stalagmite decoration, it is strictly forbidden to destroy it.
In 1929, the excavation in quarry was finished. In south part, there are to be found Chlupac cave and Vestibul Cave. These caves are rests of more vast cavities. In Vestibul Cave, there were found stone instruments and fireplace. Further, in National Museum in Prague, you can admire bones found in both caves. These were bones of hyenas, deers, mammoths, horses and furry rhineceros.
In the forest, you can find some poisoneous plants, such as wood-laurel. On rocks, you can see, for instance, black pasque-flower, alyssum, and many other sorts of plants. Along the route, there are placed 10 information stops. Nevertheless, you are not recommended to walk here after heavy rains or when the route is covered with snow. The route begins at the exit from Koněprusy Caves.
