Jabkenice - Bedřich (Frederick) Smetana Monument
Game-keeper´s house in Jabkenice is situated near to vast preserve with marvellous nature sceneries. Originally, it was a seat of forest office of Thurn-Taxis Princes. Since 1875, there was working here Joseph Schwarz, Frederick Smetana´s son-in-law, husband of his daugther Sophia. Just in the middle of this family, deaf Smetana experienced his last years of his life, and most of his most important musical works were composed here.
Standard exhibition is dedicted, first of all, to Jabkenice period of Smetana´s life. As the nucleus, there are to be visited interiors of Smetana´s study and familly hall. In a room with small picture gallery of composer´s grandson, you can undisturbed listen to Smetana´s musical compositions.
