While in the past there were up to 12 towns (bridges and fords) on the Austrian-Slovak border, where it was possible to cross the Morava River, during the period of the so-called not a single road bridge survived the Iron Curtain. The only exception was the railway bridge between Devínská Nová Ves and the town of Marchegg, but it also operated only in a limited mode.

Cyclists capital of Slovakia, and not just those, are happy from the recently opened bridge between urban parts of Děvínská Nová Ves and Austrian municipalities Schlosshof.
