Not far from Karlovy Vary stands the majestic Loket Castle on a high rock above Ohří. It is surrounded by a picturesque town with half-timbered houses and everything is completed by the surrounding nature of the Slavkov Forest.
Join us for a trip 50 kilometers from Plzen. It starts at Zihle village. In case you don't want to travel by car, take a train instead. Both express trains and passanger trains stop in this village. Zihle is one of the stop along the Plzen-Zatec line. Local train station is an important junction thanks to the Kralovice-Manetin bus line. Not far from Marianske Lazne, in the heart of the Slavkov Forest, you will find one of the most beautiful places in Western Bohemia. There is a Swiss-style hunting lodge with a romantic nature trail through the peat bogs and around the unique ponds.
Late Gothic castle was founded by the lords of Osek. In the end of the 18th century, a Baroque chateau was built right next to it. It is the main reason why tourists even visit the city of the same name. Moreover, the Reliquary of St Maurus has been on display here since 2002.
