Northeast of Trenčín is Dubnica nad Váhom. This town of more than 25,000 people became known for its armaments factories and, at one time, for the prestigious peace races. Nowadays, it offers beautiful sightseeing in the form of the Baroque Church of St. James with stained glass windows by Vincent Hložník, the Renaissance castle with its tower, the Calvary, the extensive Jan Balthasar Magin Park, many monuments and resting places with fountains, benches and adjacent cafés.
