The Slovenian river Soča is 135 km long, beautifully clean and with many canyons and rapids. Thanks to the surrounding limestone, the water is amazinglyblue and its large pools invite you to bathe. The water is icy, but you can't resist anyway. Along the way you will enjoy beautiful views of the surroundings, but also waterfalls and various cascades. The trip is challenging, but beautiful.
Today we will visit Portorož and Piran. First we will see what has changed at the beautiful nature exhibition Forma Viva. It's such a sculpture gallery under a blue sky. It is unbelievable that this project was created fifty years ago. Slovenians Jakob Savinšek and Janez Lenassi came up with the idea of a natural sculpture gallery as early as 1961.
The medieval town of Izola is such a Slovenian Venice. And even the town is really called that. You won't find gondolas here, but you will definitely find a peaceful atmosphere, narrow streets and ancient houses. And the connection with Italy? This is obvious, formerly inhabited by Italians.
