On the day of the 12th full moon Thailand celebrates the festival of lights. The center of Chiang Mai, the city I am spending this winter, is ceremonially decorated. People light candles in all temples and houses. The atmosphere is very strange. During Loy Krathong decorated baskets with lit candles and papers with a wish are sent by the river. Another holiday is celebrated in the north of Thailand – Yi Peng. Hundreds of lanterns are let in the air to get rid of bad luck. Both holidays are beautiful and moving. When I look at the sky I feel goose bumps all over my body. Have a look with us at how the festival looks like.
