Beroun is a city filled with history. It is located about 30 kilometers southwest from Prague. It is inhabited by almost 19 thousand people. Take a walk with us in the historic center of the city. See with us ancient towers, old walls and interesting things on Beroun's square.
The castle is not a historical building yet it enjoys high number of visitors. Couple of kilometers west from Prague a structure that looks like a castle was built in 2002. You can see there couple of architecture styles. The garden and its structures is nice thing there. The true historical sight there is the 17th century Hajek Monastery.
Krivoklat – another obligatory stop if you will for any real tourist. For couple of centuries the castle is a gem in the protected landscape area of Krivoklatsko. It offers many things to its visitors, year round. This year Krivoklat celebrates 900 years since the first written mention about it.
A small village 50 kilometers of Prague surprises anyone who does not know a thing about it. On a small area in beautiful landscape near Benesov you might find right two chateaus – the new one and the old one.
Today we visit a place, which remained hidden to many travellers until the present. It is mostly due to the fact the place is few meters under ground. Despite it is close to Prague only few have heard about one of the most interesting miner open air museum near Beroun.
Beroun is easily accessible from Prague or from Plzeň. Thus in time when it is considered modern to live outside a big city, Beround becomes favorite plays for Prague “fugitive”. It is around 30 kilometers from Prague and it is well connected with the metropolis. To Plzeň it is about 75 kilometers from Beroun.
Berounka-river is not too interesting for watermen, it is calm flow which could even let asleep a Prince who would like to set free "The Sleeping Beauty". So, you cannot expect a lot of adrenalin experience. On the other hand, the river is very beautiful!
The town of Rakovník, with its sixteen thousands of inhabitants, has a smiling history which could open, even at present, a bit of truth about Czech nation. From this reason, Zikmund Winter, writer, gave the town a part of his life.
