CZ, Vranov nad Dyjí: Gateway to Podyjí National Park
heading (paragraph): Towns
The dominant feature of Vranov nad Dyjí is the Baroque castle of the same name, which is situated on a rock at the top. In Vranov, however, it is just teeming with monuments, you can visit the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, on the square you can find a plague column and the bridge over the Dyje again statue of St. John of Nepomuk. But this is far from over, around Vranov there are some repaired bunkers from the First Republic and nature trails are also worth it.
Not far from Znojmo (right on the Czech-Austrian border) we find our smallest national park. Unique nature has been preserved in the Dyje canyon. Let's go to the park at a time when nature is slowly falling asleep and when the first wine cellars are opening their first young wines.
At the western end of the Podyjí NP lies the small town of Vranov nad Dyjí. Directly above it rises the castle of the same name, upstream of the river is the dam of Vranov dam. In a short article and video, we will now look at the local sights and unique nature together.
There is beautiful historical town of Znojmo near the border with Austria on the south of Moravia. It became famous for its wine and cucumbers. Only few know that you can find here, for instance, the relic of St Bonifac, many Middle-Ages landmarks, and that popular TEDx conferences take place there. Let's see Znojmo throughour article and the lense of our videocamera.
South Moravia is often called the land of sun and wine. The number of cultural sights of different historic periods is without parallel in th Czehc Republic. However, no other architectonic style is more present here than the Baroque.
When the Creator was giving he was particularly generous to the south Moravians. Thus, they could call their land the “land of wine.” He gave them the most sun in the Czech lands as well as warm climate doing good to grapes but bolstering recreational activities as well – for instance at Vranovska dam, Brnenska dam or on the lakes near Palava. So what waits here for visitors? Great Moravian landmarks, castles, chateaus, sacral buildings, great works of engineering, border fortresses, and beautiful places in nature. There is no coincidence in south Moravia being the second most interesting locality for tourists right next to Prague.
