heading (paragraph): Towns
On the left side of the Váh River and the foothills of the Považský Inovec Mountains is the village of Moravany nad Váhem, a village of nearly 2,500 inhabitants. It became famous thanks to the discovery in 1938 of a statue of a woman carved from a mammoth tusk called Venus of Moravany, whose age is estimated at 22,800 years. But it also offers visitors a glimpse of a 16th century Renaissance castle, two fine churches or a permanent exhibition of historic vehicles and motorcycles.
