Žďár nad Sázavou: fragments of the historical city
heading (paragraph): Towns
The form of historical centre Žďár nad Sázavou, city on the border of Bohemia and Moravia, signed the Communist regime. Historically valuable buildings flattened, and the city dominates tasteless buildings till today. In the very heart left only Old Town Hall, plague column, rectory and church of St. Prokop of 13th of century. Žďár nad Sázavou belongs to Vysočina region, there live more than 22 thousand people.
ZOO Jihlava is located in a natural area picturesque river valley of Jihlávka close to the historic city centre (about 10 minutes walk). By cosy atmosphere and smaller size is ideal for family walks as well as to school or tourist trips.
Žďár nad Sázavou is a city known mainly Santini pilgrimage church of St. Jan of Nepomuk on Zelená hora, sign on list UNESCO World Heritage Site. Who would look for this miracle the centre, would be disappointed. Monuments stand on the edge of town. But we still stay in the centre of Žďár and the church will be discussed in detail sometimes later.
About Jihlava we could hear in the news perhaps every day. It is quite obvious - Jihlava is the main city of region and it is no wonder that in a place that literally divides Bohemia and Moravia, and here and there a major ruckus. To be completely clear, where the border actually leads, Maria Theresa left in Jihlava "build" four boundary stones.
Spirit of true genius will remain around Zelena hora at Zdar nad Sazavou unless a church which stands there is removed. It is the embodiment of the spirit of bold, talented architect Jan Blazej Santini Aichel.
