Dachstein massif can be accessed from any direction. There are many advantages to every of them. The most popular are cable cars (we told you about them in the first part of the series). Dachstein Südwandbahn is a cable car in the south. It takes you almost one kilmoeter up above the clouds in just ten minutes. There is a restaurant at the upper cable car station. You can find it on the top of Hunerkogel mountain.

The weather in the following morning was amazing and sunny. Upon packing all of our things we set off. Following the yellow tourist trail we reached a red route. Then we followed the green route which got us to Polana. There we climbed an unmarked trail up to the summit of the Vihorlat, the peak of the day.

We packed our things, ate something and set off to another day in the Bukovske Hills, especially after we found out how many spiders accompanied us in our sleep and how many holes are in the hut. Our plan for that day was to descend following the red tourist trail. We would travel through Ruske, once a village, Zalomy saddle to Runina village. The hike would take us around3 hours. After a long train ride we finally reached the easternmost village in Slovakia – Nove Sedlice. It was raining heavily at the time of our arrival therefore we headed right towards Kremenec guest house. Except for affordable prices they have quite good food. And we couldn’t refuse east Slovakian beer Saris. It was pretty water compared to Czech beers.

East Slovakia, Bukovske Hills I – Into the Wild

Bukovske hill is slightly low geological formation in Slovakian east partially being on Polish territory in its north and partially the Ukrainian on its east. Much of the territory is protected by the UNESCO and a part of the Poloniny national park which was declared in 1997.
