Šumava (Bohemian Forest) - Czech republic
Bohemian Forest is one of the oldest mountain range of Europa. It is a biggest Natural Park in Czech Republic (69 030 ha). Bohemian Forest is situated on the Border of Czech Republic with Germany and Austria. It is formed by rocks of Primary mountains origin. As Natural Park it was declared in 1991. There are many monuments here. The tourists have choice for spending of nice holidays as in winter as in summer. The highest point of Šumava names Plechý (1378 m).

A town near Lipno water dam is reachable by ferry, train, car, or along some of bike trails. From the dam it ascends to a forest park Dobra Voda to places where are views of Sumava, Lipno water dam, and in case of good weather also the Alps. Across the town goes a nature trail named in honor of poet A. Stifter born in Sumava.

Among places we want to visit due to their beauty is also area of Povydri in Sumava. There Zlatatrail used to be. It was an important trade route connecting Podunaji and Czech lands. Turner’s Cottage (Turnerhütte) was one of the places where trade caravans spent nights and refreshed.

The Šumava National Park begins with this border town that has a history of lumbering. The surrounding of this town is mostly hills and mountains and Stožec is the highest of them (1065 m n. m.). Once there was a castle that didn’t survive until present. A railroad (since 1910) and the River Studená Vltava cross the town.

Kvilda is a small alpine town with an old history of gold placer mining crossed by the Golden route, a trading route. Today it is a busy and popular tourist center, it is an area of marshlands, mixed forests and neighboring towns that together create an area known as Kvildsko. It is a region at 1000 meters above the sea level with a calm climate and despite this fact you can find here many rare plants.
