Short characteristics:

Bodva Hilly Country is middle-mountaneous countryside complex, divided into two sections, such as: Abov part in east, and Gemer part in west, separated with each other with Slovak Karst Range. Abov section is placed between Hornád and Bodva rivers, whereas Gemer section is placed in west direction from Slovak and Aggtelek Karst, penetrating to Slaná river, in its western part.

Regarding its geological construction: less resistant neogen clays, sandstones, gravels and loams are to be found there. The area of Bodva Hilly Country belongs to warm climatic area. The surface is deprived of forests, with dominating ploughing surfaces and lasting grass copse. Part of this area forms Slovak Karst National Park protected belt.
