Malé Karpaty (Small Carpathian Mountains) - Slovakia

Extent: 820 square kilometres.

This mountain range is located in west part of Slovakia and divide - similarly as fortification - Záhorská plainland from  Danube plainland. The complex belongs to Fatra-Tatra area, which forms a part of West Carpathian Mountains. It is divided into four next parts, such as: Devínské, Pezinské, Brezovské and Čachtické.

Highest peak: Záruby (768 m).

Surface: afforested, including beech-wood and oak forests.

Climatic area: rather warm, in higher localities moderately warm area.

The territory was declared as Preserved Countryside Area in 1976.

Approximately 15 km from the regional town of Trnava in the beautiful valley of the Blava stream lies the village of Radošovce. Its nearby neighbors are the spa town of Piešťany, Hlohovec Castle or the famous Leopoldov Prison. Today we set out to get to know this unusual village, which was administratively established not so long ago (January 1, 1991), by separating from Jaslovské Bohunice.

The village of Košolná lies on the right bank of the fertile floodplain of the Parná river, approximately 12 km northwest of the district town of Trnava. The cadastral area with an area of 959 hectares in the north borders Boleráz, in the east and south with Suchá nad Parnou and in the west with the cadastre of Dlhá and Dolní Orešany.

The village of Lošonec is located on the promontory of the Trnava Uplands. The mostly forested cadastral area of the village has an area of 2371 ha and is located at an altitude of 215-662 meters. The Smutná stream, which is a tributary of the Trnávka river, flows through the village.

The village of Brestovany lies in the northwestern part of the Danube Plain, only 10 km from the district town of Trnava at an altitude of 140 to 150 meters. The cadastral area consists of parts of Velká Brestovany, Malá Brestovany and Horní Lovčice.

We will go for the beauties of sacral monuments even today. This time we will visit the village of Čáry in the northern part of the Záhorská lowland. It is located in the valley of the river Myjava, about 22 km from the district town Senica. It is adjacent to the important pilgrimage town of Šaštín-Stráže or the village of Gbely, a famous oil field.

Slovakia is a country that is characterized not only by beautiful nature, but also by a number of sacred monuments. It is a pity that they are overlooked by the number of tourists who come here.
