Podbeskydy Highlands is situated in north-west part of Slovakia, in Region of Žilina, in Námestovo district. The complex belongs to Central Beskydy area, which form a part of Outer West Carpathian Mountains.

Short characteristics:
Podbeskydy Highlands is mountain complex, passing in south direction from Podbeskydy Furrow. The complex is formed mostly from paleogenne granite sandstones. Its relief is predominantly hilly, and has steep modelled character. Narrow transverse basins are created by means of erosion. Its slopes are steep and have great declivity.
The surface is very afforested, with dominace of pine forests. Non afforested parts are covered with agricultural areas of meadows, pasture lands and fields. Podbeskydy Highlands is divided into lower south-west part and higher north-east part, situated in territory of Biela Orava (White Orava) Valley, in direction to Rabča.
The whole area belongs to cold climatic area. Podbeskydy Highlands belongs to Horná Orava (Upper Orava) Protected Countryside Area.
