Short characteristics:
This Mountain Range is 45 kilometres long and 15-25 kilometres wide. It is much more powerful in the north, whereas towards the south, it slowly drops into Danube Table - land. From geological point of view, this Mountain Range is built with crystalinics´(gneiss, granites, mica-slates) and coverings (palls), such as sandstones, slates, dolomites, limestones. Inside Mountain Range, there are springing small flows only. On the other hand, in its north part, there is to be found relatively frequent appearance of mineral springs, so called acidulous waters. To most important ones belong mineral waters in Piešťany (healing water with temperature reaching 60° C.). In the area, you can meet leafy woods, in lower sections oaks, in higher sections oaks - hornbeams, and in top sections beech-woods forests.
Považský Inovec belongs to warm area, anyway, in higher sections to moderately warm, and in its top sections to cold climatic area.
Local place of interest: so called Čertova pec (Devil´s Owen). Here, the oldest cave colonization of Slovakia was found.
Inside the region, you can find many quite easy tourist trails. In winter, the territory is suitable for ski running. The skiers prefer, first of all, Bezovec resort, but, except of this, you can find there several ski slopes with ski lifts. The mountaineers are looking for Beckov Castle Rock or training terrains at Tematín Castle or in Sokolí skaly (Falcon Rocks).
