Vtáčnik Hilly Range forms a part of volcannic Slovak Ore Mountains, forming a part of Internal West Carpathian Mountains. It is placed in Banská Bystrica and Trenčín Regions, in Žarnovica, Žiar nad Hronom, Partizánske and Prievidza districts.

Short characteristics:
This hilly range is constructed with volcanic andesits, ryolits and its pyroclastics.
The landslips are characteristic signs for this hilly range. The territory belongs to moderately warm and cold climatic area. The surface is mostly covered with leafy woods, with dominance of oaks and beech-woods. Anyway, even mixed forests are appearing there (beech-woods and fire-trees). In places, where the forests are missing, you can find meadows, pasture lands, bushes and arable land.
Vtáčník Highlands is a part of Nitra Protected Countryside.
