Banska Stiavnica is an old town located in the middle of a collapsed Stiavnice volcano. For long centuries, precious metals were mined here. This allowed our ancestors to build beautiful streets or quiant architecture which looks amazing in the nature that surrounds it. Join us for a look of this precious gem of Slovakia.

Every Slovak, if you happen to be in Central Slovakia, logically recommends a trip to Banska Stiavnica. However, its bigger "sister" and the natural metropolis of the region - Banska Bystrica deserve attention as well. Let's get together to explore it.
Last week we promised you to take you on some tourist trails above Malachov village. These take you through former mines and local anomaly of "natural fridge".
There are many interesting places around Banska Bystrica. Malachov is one of them. We visit it today.

Štiavnica Hills are the greatest protected countryside area of Slovak Republic. This territory is attracive for visitors in any season of the year. As far as the space is concerned, Štiavnica Hills are the biggest volcanic mountain ranges of Slovakia, where nearly all phenomenons of volcanic relief are represented.
After our introduction to Kremnica last week we set off now to the surroundings of the city. There are several options where to. You can either climb up to Kremnicky stit, go to the towns of Ihrac or Ziar, or visit Kremnice mines nearby. Our destinations were Tri krize, Skalka, Krahule village and we paid visit to recently bulit observation tower.
Join us for a tour in central Slovakia. We visit the district of Ziar nad Hronom, precisely the Royal mining town of Kremnica. Once, gold and silver was mined there and there is still a mint in operation. It is one of the oldest constantly operating undertakings in the world.
The symbolic centre of Europe we can find not only the Slovak Republic, but also in many surrounding states of the Old Continent. It just depends on your point of view and definition according to which we are looking for him.
