SK, Bučany – A Beauty of the Podunajská Highlands

This time we will visit the picturesque village of Bučany located approximately 9 kilometers from the regional city of Trnava (towards Piešťany). The village offers to see several remarkable monuments, such as the church of St. Margita of Antioch from 1410, rebuilt in the 18th century, or the ruins of a late Rococo castle. Perhaps the biggest attraction of this village is the Nyáryovská Kurie situated on the highest point of the village, which serves as a cultural and social center.

It is interesting that three decades ago this part was an independent municipality, so it is no wonder that it still offers several beautiful sights to see.

Less than 8 such from Trnava, in the central part of the Trnava Uplands, lies the village of Bohdanovce nad Trnavou. This medium-sized village is immediately adjacent to the villages of Šelpice and nearby to the villages of Boleráz, Dolná Krupá or Špačince.

After last week's visit to Bohdanoviec nad Trnavou, we will cross the bridge to the neighboring village of Šelpice. They are only 6 km northwest of the regional city of Trnava. They became famous mainly due to embroidery, viticulture and theater activities of local amateurs.

In the western part of the Danubian Lowland is the village of Vištuk, which borders the cadastre of Budmeríc, Modry, Šenkvíc, Báhoňa and the village of Jablonec. Vištuk used to belong to the Bratislava County and the Modra District, but since 1948 it has been included under the Pezinok District and the Bratislava Region.

The village of Šúrovce is located on the fertile Danubian lowland between Váh and Dudváh near the town of Sereď. The village with more than 2,300 inhabitants is only 12 km away from the district town of Trnava. The village was created by merging the original villages of Veľké Šúrovce, Valtov Šúr, Varov Šúr and Zemianske Šúrovce.

The cadastral area with an area of 959 hectares in the north borders Boleráz, in the east and south with Suchá nad Parnou and in the west with the cadastre of Dlhá and Dolní Orešany.
