At the eastern foot of the Little Carpathians near the wine-growing town of Modra, the castle colossus Červený Kámen, protruding from the wooded landscape, will fascinate you from afar. You can get here either from the village of Častá or from the neighboring village of Píla.
The village of Bernolákovo is located in the western part of the Danubian Lowland, on the floodplain of the Little Danube and the Black Water. Here you will find the magnificent Esterházy Castle, several unique sacral buildings or even the ruins of a medieval castle.
As every mountain range, even Small Carpathians has its dominant peaks. They are above the surrounding lands. Peaks of these several giants make characteristic panorama of the Small Carpathians. They create visible dominants, they are orientation spots and give beautiful views of the surrounding landscape. One of these impressive titans of the Small Carpathians is Vysoka.
Many interesting places not frequented by holidaymakers are in the Small Carpathians. These are mostly hills with beautiful vistas to the surroundings that lure tourists to climb them. Vapenna Hill is one of the three highest peaks in the Small Carpathians and it offers beautiful vistas as well.
Once we rode on bikes from Petrzalka across the Pristavni Bridge along the Small Danube and across Vrakunsky forest we found ourselves at the airport. From there we will continue to our first place of interest the M. R. Stefanik Memorial.
The collection of vines, the tasting of grape must and burčák are also inseparable from the colorful autumn. The last warm rays of the sun invite you to go on a trip. An ideal combination of both activities is a visit to the beautiful wine village Svatý Jur.
Last week we got acquainted with the history of the town and with natural or medieval attractions in the area. Today we will go for a walk around his sights.
Even this year, we spent some summer days on our bikes. As we live in Petrzalka, this area of blocs of flats is the point from where we start our trips.
Last week, we concluded our article while at the beginning of the new bike trail Jurava. In its proximity, the Nature Reservation of Sur is located. It is also called Jursky Sur. It was hard to resist temptation not to turn off our trail. We eventually did so to admire unique marshland.
The unique combination of vineyards and Mediterranean botany is simply not seen. However, you can easily find this connection in Pezinok, in the Stará hora wine region. We are talking about a unique lavender garden, which attracts hundreds of visitors and wine lovers every year.
The picturesque Small Carpathian town of Pezinok is located approximately 25 kilometers from Bratislava. It is known especially for developed viticulture and long-term brick, construction and engineering production. Thanks to its convenient location, it is an attractive place for family life.
The most amazing historical monument of the town of Pezinok is undoubtedly the Pezinok chateau. It was built at the turn of the 13th and 14th centuries as a water castle. And despite several reconstructions, the original appearance of the castle has been preserved. Thanks to this, the Pezinok chateau can be described as an impressive and unique building.
Since the time immemorial people were attracted to high places so they can have a view over surrounding landscape. Observation towers emerged quickly in central Europe, mostly in the second half of the 19th century and at the beginning of the 20th century. There are countless towers in Slovakia and it can be claimed some more will be constructed every year.
The Small Carpathian Mountains are not the highest mountain range in Slovakia. Nevertheless, they have a lot to offer. There are many interesting and picturesque nooks. From some peaks there are magnificent views of the landscape. However, the visitor will be enchanted by deep forests, caves, or many rock formations along the ridges.
The Male Karpaty mountains is a very beautiful mountain range situated in the west of Sloavkia. There are many interesting paleontological and geological localities in the south of the range. The significance of this area led to foundation of a new Slovak geopark - the Sandberg-Pajstun geopark (SAPAG).
