Less than 8 such from Trnava, in the central part of the Trnava Uplands, lies the village of Bohdanovce nad Trnavou. This medium-sized village is immediately adjacent to the villages of Šelpice and nearby to the villages of Boleráz, Dolná Krupá or Špačince.
After last week's visit to Bohdanoviec nad Trnavou, we will cross the bridge to the neighboring village of Šelpice. They are only 6 km northwest of the regional city of Trnava. They became famous mainly due to embroidery, viticulture and theater activities of local amateurs.
We will not leave the Trnava region even this Monday and visit the village of Buková, whose buildings are at the bottom of the distinctive Bukovská basin. In the eastern part of the village, the area narrows into a deep gorge surrounded by limestone hills. In the cadastre of this village there are up to five cottage areas - Závršie, Hrnčeková dolina, U Maruše, Bílá Hora and Hrudky, so it is clear at first glance that it is a popular cottage, tourist and mushroom locality.
In the western part of the Slovak Republic, more precisely in the district of Senica, there is the village of Prievaly, which is 34 kilometers away from Malacek and 68 kilometers from the capital. The village became famous for finding treasures in the form of gold and silver coins when demolishing local buildings. You can see part of the so-called Treasure of the Prival Inn in the collections of the Slovak National Museum.
In the western part of the Danubian Lowland is the village of Vištuk, which borders the cadastre of Budmeríc, Modry, Šenkvíc, Báhoňa and the village of Jablonec. Vištuk used to belong to the Bratislava County and the Modra District, but since 1948 it has been included under the Pezinok District and the Bratislava Region.
In the central part of western Slovakia, between three important cities, namely Trnava, Hlohovec and Piešťany, lies the village of Madunice. Thanks to the immediate vicinity of the Váh River, the surroundings of the village offer breathtaking natural scenery, as well as opportunities for active recreation in the form of fishing or hunting.
Today we will go to the Slovak Pomoraví resp. Záhorie, where we visit the village Kuklov. This village is located about 25 km from the district town of Senica and the nearest neighbors are the towns of Šaštín-Stráže, Gbely, Kúty or the villages of Čáry and Borský Svatý Jur.
Northwest of the regional city of Galanta (approximately 13 km) is the village of Abraham. Its immediate neighbors are the villages of Pavlice, Majcichov, Hoste, Velká and Malá Mača, Sládkovičovo and Pusté Úlany.
Today we will visit one of the oldest villages in the district of Trnava - Vlčkovce. They are less than 10 km away from the regional town and thanks to their location they were in the past, as today, an important crossroads between Trnava and Nitra.
At the eastern foot of the Little Carpathians near the wine-growing town of Modra, the castle colossus Červený Kámen, protruding from the wooded landscape, will fascinate you from afar. You can get here either from the village of Častá or from the neighboring village of Píla.
On the edge of the Danubian Uplands, at the mouth of the Chtelnička Valley in the northern part of the Little Carpathians, lies the truly beautiful village of Chtelnice. The area in which it is located is one of the oldest inhabited areas in Slovakia.
After a short time we will visit the town of Sereď again. This time we will introduce you to an authentic place related to the tragic period of the solution of the Jewish question in Slovakia during the Second World War. You may have already guessed that this place will be the Holocaust Museum, which was established in the premises of the former labour and concentration camp in Sered.
Today we will visit the typical hill village of Košariská, which consists of a total of nine homesteads or hill farms. Namely U Štefova, Dolní Košariská, U Plačkova, Horní Košariská, U Martinkova, U Šindelov, U Mosnáků, U Trvajová and Lopušná.
In the southwestern part of Slovakia, approximately 50 km from Bratislava, lies the town of Galanta. Although it is a small town in terms of its area, it offers visitors a lot of interesting things in terms of monuments and history.
Approximately 15 km from the regional town of Trnava in the beautiful valley of the Blava stream lies the village of Radošovce. Its nearby neighbors are the spa town of Piešťany, Hlohovec Castle or the famous Leopoldov Prison. Today we set out to get to know this unusual village, which was administratively established not so long ago (January 1, 1991), by separating from Jaslovské Bohunice.
The village of Šúrovce is located on the fertile Danubian lowland between Váh and Dudváh near the town of Sereď. The village with more than 2,300 inhabitants is only 12 km away from the district town of Trnava. The village was created by merging the original villages of Veľké Šúrovce, Valtov Šúr, Varov Šúr and Zemianske Šúrovce.
The village of Košolná lies on the right bank of the fertile floodplain of the Parná river, approximately 12 km northwest of the district town of Trnava. The cadastral area with an area of 959 hectares in the north borders Boleráz, in the east and south with Suchá nad Parnou and in the west with the cadastre of Dlhá and Dolní Orešany.
South of Trnava (13 km) by the Gidra stream lies the village of Voderady. In the past, it belonged to the Bratislava county, but for the time being it is part of the Trnava region.
Pavlice is one of the picturesque villages in the Danubian Lowland. They stretch on the eastern edge of the Trnava Uplands, surrounded by meadows, woods and fields intersected by the Gidra Stream. Over 500 inhabitants enjoy rural life with all the joys and sorrows. Today we will visit this village and we ourselves are curious what it will offer us.
This time we will go approximately 45 km northeast of Bratislava to the medium-sized village of Pusté Úľany. The village in the Trnava region offers to see several interesting historical monuments.
After walking through the village of Radošovce, when we returned home, we stopped in Jaslovské Bohunice, which is known to us thanks to the nearby presence of a nuclear power plant. Specifically, we visited the municipal part of Paderovce. It is interesting that three decades ago this part was an independent municipality, so it is no wonder that it still offers several beautiful sights to see.
Each village has something special, interesting and pleasing to the eye in its territory. All you have to do is walk through the streets and you will be convinced that this is no different in Križovany nad Dudváhom, which is mainly represented by painted statues. So let's go for a walk through this beautiful village.
The village of Zavar is located 8 km from Trnava, on the eastern edge of the Trnava loess board. The first written mention dates from 1255. In the village there are many sacred monuments and interesting objects from history. The most attractive ones certainly include the Classicist chateau, the new church dedicated to the Nativity of the Virgin Mary from 1907 and the birth house of the composer Gejza Dusík.
The village of Dolné Lovčice, located 6 km from the regional town of Trnava, attracts lovers of wandering through villages and towns with a peaceful atmosphere, several sacral monuments and attractions.
The village of Brestovany lies in the northwestern part of the Danube Plain, only 10 km from the district town of Trnava at an altitude of 140 to 150 meters. The cadastral area consists of parts of Velká Brestovany, Malá Brestovany and Horní Lovčice.
We will go for the beauties of sacral monuments even today. This time we will visit the village of Čáry in the northern part of the Záhorská lowland. It is located in the valley of the river Myjava, about 22 km from the district town Senica. It is adjacent to the important pilgrimage town of Šaštín-Stráže or the village of Gbely, a famous oil field.
What else we loved about the region of Zahorie located in west Slovakia? Well, where is the only preserved building since the Great Moravia empire? Answers to this question and others are in this article.
Beautiful Adamovska lakes belong to the Gbely town disctrict. The lakes are popular mostly among people that want to recreate and people who own cottages. Also several thousand water birds made this place their oasis. A visitor can observe them from nearby observation post.
After several weeks, more or less spent at home watching television because I during a crazy ride on motor bikes fractured ribs, I could no longer wait for the next trip. On long trips my body still did not dare, so we decided that we go somewhere to water.
Today, we travel to the region of Zahori. There we visit the town of Holic which holds a unique Baroque/classicist chateau, megaliths, and last but not least a windmill, our main destination for today.
In our today’s journey across Slovakia we visit a remarkable ruin located in the region of Trnava only 3 kilometers from Dechtice. People call it Katarinka yet its official name is church and monastery of Saint Catherine of Alexandria.
Last week we made a tour from Dechtice to the church and monastery of St Catherine. This nice stroll inspired us to make another trip – this time to Dobra Voda town, couple of kilometers away. The town boasts with a beautiful ruin of a castle and Jan Holly.
After a short break yet again we went for a walk the Small Carpathian Mountains. This time we visited Hlbocianska valley near he town of Smolenice.
Fabulously beautiful Smolenice castle now serves as the congress centre of the Slovak Academy of Sciences, and so many people think it is closed to the public. It is not like that.
