Wild animals, plains, sleeping in a tent and unforgettable experiences... this is safari in Africa. Magda's dream came true in Tanzania – she wished to see wild cats from up close. So where does her photogallery take us to today? For instance, we visit the national parks of Ngorongoro and Serengeti, the village of Mto Wa Mbu. In the latter, we visit the Masai, see a hippo lake, the people of Mount Meru. There we prepare delicious coffee. Sit back, relax and enjoy the wild nature and its rough rules.

Kizimkazi is a small village in Zanzibar, where dolphins are found in the bay. It lies in the southern part of the island, some 50 km (31mi) from the capital city. Dolphin watching and the opportunity to swim with them is a great tourist attraction, which the locals are well aware of. So we are also tempted.

Our next trip is to visit Prison Island or Changuu Island. We come here with a small boat from the capital. The name Prison Island can be translated as a prison island, which is somewhat misleading. The prison has never been here before. The island served only as a temporary residence for disobedient slaves.

Tanzania: Wild Animals Within Reach I – Let's Begin
Published: 1.10.2016
Today we go far far away. We set off to places where I fulfilled my dreams of taking pictures of wild cats. I wished for a flight to Africa a long time ago. Tanzania was my first choice. I took my daughter to safari. I made preparations ahead, read some basic information about the country, flora and fauna, the latter being the most interesting for me.

Tanzania: Wild Animals at Hand II – Safari, Hurey!
Published: 8.10.2016
So we got some basic knowledge last time. Finally, can we set off. Upon entrance to the park we spotted a herd of elephants. There often peaked baby elephants among grown-ups. Our vehicle was riding slowly on dusty roads. Sometimes he braked slightly. Thus, we could take pictures easily. I would like to make a remark of one classy new feature – there are electrical plugs in the car. Therefore, we can charge our cameras, phones, etc. Usually, there are six people on a safari ride. You have to take turns at charging. Fortunately, there were only two of us – me and my daughter. It was much more pleasant.

Tanzania: Wild Animals within Arms Reach III – National Park and Maasai Village
Published: 15.10.2016
We set off to Ngorongoro National Park as early as at 7 a.m. Prior to that, however, we take a groupd picture with the guards of our camp (the Maasai). Our driver, the always smiling Little John, is already waiting for us. Heavy rains left traces on the land slightly before our arrival. We are travelling for about an hour and suddenly we reach the gates of the national park. There is even a visitors’ center. There you can learn a lot of information about the park and its inhabitants. It is nice to see pictures of birds with captions, detailed information on fauna and flora and everything else that might be interesting for you.

Perhaps it would surprise you that hippos are considered among the most dangerous animals in Africa. Many of the local inhabitants have at least one death in the family caused by hippo. This massive creature has almost no pigment, therefore it must remain in water for days. It washes itself with its tail. Their body makes them mistakenly slow. They can, however, run up to 30 km/h. If it manages to catch a human it can easily split a man into two halves.

Tanzania: Wild Animals within Reach V – A Walking Safari and Visit to  Mount Meru

We ride through a thick forest. Suddenly my daughter screams stop, please stop. She points to a bush before us. The more I concentrate the more I can see it – a leopard! Amazing catch. I take pictures of it instantly. The cat is hidden in the trees. Still, we manage to observe it for a while. We don't disturb it at the moment. Soon we arrive at the center of the park. We immediately show our catch. Nobody believes us. One ranger says that for 8 years he has worked there he hasn't seen one yet. Well, we show him our evidence.
