World-known old salt mines in Wieliczka belong to most visited tourist targets of Poland. The locality is situated a couple of kilometres distant from the town of Cracow. Thousands of visitors from all over the world come there, in order to admire, with their own eyes, salted underground small lakes, excavating rooms, mining machines and equipments, wooden constructions hundred years old, conservated by means of cool mining air or statues or reliefs, carved on salt.

In 1978, the complex was registered into UNESCO World and Cultural Heritage Survey.
