The Museum of the Orava Villagein Zuberec (located at the foothills of the Rohace) consists of over 50 buildings of folk architecture comprised of several units called Dolno-Moravian Street, Hornooravska Street and Goralske Lazy. This picturesque village can be visited during the winter evenings in the late evening hours, as there are evening tours of the museum. Visitors get a wooden lantern with a candle. In addition to the admiration of architecture and natural scenery, there is also a cultural program. It consists of humorous events from Orava, songs and dances. To warm oneself up you get a warm cup of mead and children a chocolate bar.. For a better idea of a unique atmosphere in the open-air museum we bring you the following photo gallery.

Picturesque Oravian town of Hrustin is located in the middle between Namestov and Dolni Kubin. Our loyal readers truly know it very well.
Today we are heading to the Namestovo district, where the picturesque Krusetnice village spans at the confluence of the White Orava River and the Klinianka Stream. The village surrounded by the Podbeskydy Highlands invites visitors to a tour of traditional houses, a beautiful Baroque church and even a ski resort. Yet we today will take you to a unique museum where you smell the irresistible aroma of coffee.
Unique region of Orava is one of the most beautiful yet most unwelcoming in Slovakia. We have visited it for many times in the past. This time we didn’t walk around there but we mounted our bikes, tested our skills, and enjoyed beautiful bike trip.
Peculiar region of Orava is one the most beautiful places in Slovakia. Regardless season you happen to be there, or weather, it will pleasantly surprise you. This time was no different. Again, we were taken away by it.
In the midst of summer we spent a couple of days in the Oravian village of Oravska Lesna. It is surrounded by beautiful nature of Slovakian Beskydy and Oravska Magura.
Today, our steps will lead to the north of Slovakia. We will visit spectacular Orava region, where we visit the unique technical monument – Orava Forest Railroad.
In today article we will take you to the picturesque Oravian town of Hruštín. There is unique architecture, interesting dialect, many sport attractions and last, but not least, also beautiful nature of the Central Beskydy.
This time we go to Dolny Kubin, a district in Orava region. We decided to see some beautiful villages which are significant for their sights, important historic figures, or are simply great places to start a tour into the surroundings.
One sunny day we came to a decision that we need to get out of summer heat in the city. We packed our things and left Bratislava for north of the country, for Orava. As we are not particularly physically fit and we did not want to visit many tourist we chose Prislop saddle to be the destination.
Autumn is the most colorful season of the year and the best for tourism. You need to count on early sunsets but the sun is not so hot. Therefore, we decided to go up into the mountains.
Last week we visited the quiant village of Lestiny. The village boasts a UNESCO sight. However, today we move about one kilometer to Vysny Kubin, a village in Orava region.
We conclude our tour in Orava in Jasenova village which is situated in a small basin close to Vysny Kubin. Among its buildings you can get glimpses of distant past as you may find here some unique historic landmarks. We are going to tell you more about them on the following lines.
Our steps today head to Horna Orava, to a small swamp lake that is of large cultural and natural importance.
The ski season is on and this year’s winter is not only rich on snow but also many beautiful sunny days. So as soon as we had a free weekend we moved off to nature at least for few days. Our steps led to Orava, one of the most beautiful regions in Slovakia.
Do you belong among winter sports lovers? Also, you can not imagine a winter holiday without a good snow and well-maintained slopes? Although, I have to admit that in recent years we go with a group on skiing for one week. Usually, we go abroad, but the Slovak mountains, we did not forgot about.
