On our trips in Slovenskem we made a stop in Orava. Looking at snow covered slopes we couldnt resist to take a winter walk even with our four legged pet. Despite heavy snowing and wind, we enjoyed the atmosphere of Oravian nature. White frosted trees, snow under our feet and our sight was captued by clouds going over the hills of the Oravska Magura.

On the shore of the Orava dam a district town of Namestovo is located. I ti surrounded by beautiful hills of Oravska Magura and Podbeskydska Highlands. Thanks to its location and picturesque nature around (which is part of Horna Orava Protected Natural Reservation) this town became a center of local culture and tourism.
Autumn is the most colorful season of the year and the best for tourism. You need to count on early sunsets but the sun is not so hot. Therefore, we decided to go up into the mountains.
The Western Tatras is very popular and frequented mountain range. Treks here, the main ridge especially, are amazing and people who go there long remember it. Ostry Rohac is perhaps the most attractive and most well known peak in this area. Many tourists hike across it every year.
Last week we learned the history of the privileged Orava town of Trstena, and today we will do some sightseeing for we will visit sacral buildings, architectural treasures and modern sights. We will even take you to one beautiful place of pilgrimage.
Today, in the village of Trstená, we can see the dominants of Milan Rastislav Štefánik Square. We start with the Franciscan monastery, which was built between 1776 and 1780. Until now, he has been architecturally modified several times, but he does not detract from his beauty.
After 40 years, the folk song and music culture of the distinctive North Slovak region comes to life, in the form of a supplemented release of the legendary album Orava.
This time we will go to Orava, more precisely to the district town of Dolný Kubín. The town of almost 20,000 is set in the valley of the river Orava and is surrounded by the majestic mountains of the Orava Highlands and Orava Magura. The peaks of Malá Fatra or Chočské vrchy also stand out in the background.
Our steps today head to Horna Orava, to a small swamp lake that is of large cultural and natural importance.
Picturesque Oravian town of Hrustin is located in the middle between Namestov and Dolni Kubin. Our loyal readers truly know it very well.
One of the Slovakia’s most beautiful villages is Cicmany. There widely popular for their wooden houses with typical white ornaments that look like embroidery. There is much more Cicmany can offer to local visitors as well as those coming from afar.
Today we visit the Orava region to Klin town (near the district town of Namestovo). A projection that split two rivers gave the village its name. It is an ideal place to start your trips to the surroundings. Nevertheless, the village is also an interesting place on its own.
A week ago, we ended our walk through Dolný Kubín in the so-called Kohútový sad. Let's continue to the pedestrian zone of the historic center, which decorates the beautiful Hviezdoslav Square. It consists of a terraced development of colorful burgher houses used as retail space and for the purposes of restaurants or offices.
Few weeks ago there was an interesting event in picturesque Hrustin, a town in Orava, called the Hrustinska Prevodovka, which we didn’t want to miss. What we have seen and experienced will be revealed on the lines below.
In today article we will take you to the picturesque Oravian town of Hruštín. There is unique architecture, interesting dialect, many sport attractions and last, but not least, also beautiful nature of the Central Beskydy.

Although, I have to admit that in recent years we go with a group on skiing for one week. Usually, we go abroad, but the Slovak mountains, we did not forgot about. My favorite places have been for years the Kysuce and Orava regions.
The ski season is on and this year’s winter is not only rich on snow but also many beautiful sunny days. So as soon as we had a free weekend we moved off to nature at least for few days. Our steps led to Orava, one of the most beautiful regions in Slovakia.
