Wild nature covered with thousands of years old ice. It belongs to Denmark. This is one way to describe world’s largest island– Greenland. It is the land of geysers, characteristic Nordic architecture, fjords, icebergs, Eskimos, Vikings and polar bears. Go to the Arctic wilderness by looking through our photogallery.

Sweden, On the Road between Göteborg and Stockholm I – Göteborg

Eighteen kilogram backpack on our backs were bent me and Dominika down at a station. We were looking forward to Swedish dream, a month worth of travelling on our own. A yellow bus was the means of our transport from Brno to Göteborg. After almost 20 hours of comfortable ride we got off the bus to see seagulls, ferry two ferry boats and cranes idling at the port. Visitor centers were buoys giving us always necessary information in the Swede’s second largest city. The first thing we actually did there was a visit at one such a center. Maps, leaflets, information – this is tourist’s fodder. One even doesn’t realize how remote is the land he trod on. Especially when passersby smile at him/her when he/she asks for directions. The smiles were still there regardless where we were.

Sweden, Malmö: Historic But Modern as Well

You can literally cross a bridge from Copenhagen, Denmark to Sweden. But it is quite a long bridge. One may think both cities would be similar due to small distance separating them but you couldn’t be more wrong. Malmö has different feeling – it is calmer, more monumental, and more adult. You will feel its industrial history as well as present high-tech direction.

Denmark, Copenhagen II. – Parks, Cemeteries, and Andersen

Flowers, blossoming trees, benches, small lanterns, puffy bears, and birds singing. People walk slowly along gravel paths. You can see children, grandpas, grandmas – it doesn’t matter. All are enjoying this calm place. Were there not tombs with Danish names I wouldn’t even notice that I am at a large cemetery. It rather seems the tombs were placed there accidentally.

Denmark, Copenhagen I – The City of Many Possibilities

The capital of Denmark truly amazed me. Nordic history, interesting architecture everywhere, lots of greenery, bicyclists, cool people, great food and coffee. It is one of those cities which should serve as an example. Danes are the most happy nation in the world. In Copenhagen, I realized why it is so.

"Working" with the elves worked out pretty well. We have a nice sunny day, although it is bit cold. Skútustaðir is one of the few towns at Mývatn lake. Our goal is a walk near pseudocraters. Local name for these strange hills, about twenty of them, is skútustaðagígar.

Thanks to the feeling of omnipresent danger, the island lures travellers. It is located in the most volcanically active region in the world. It really has lots to offer: monumental glaciers, bubbling thermal springs, majestic falls, colorful lava fields covered with heath, and many other things. It is only a glimpse of what lures people here from all over the world.

Alarm at 7,30. We have to leave cabins until 8,30. As always, I bought a good book guide and read it. In introduction, there was: “Despite you can travel by boat, we recommend it only to experienced sailors with tough stomachs. Gale is strong on the route as well as storms and waves of the Atlantic."

Ice archipelago, which lies midway between Scandinavia and the North Pole, there is hiding places perhaps more remarkable than it might seem. Mineral resources and unique geomorphological composition of local rocks and rugged landscape here attracted number of expeditions, adventurers, and in recent decades as well as tourists.
