A piece of history
The first written mention about the village Motyčky comes from the hoe in 1754. The present village was founded when in 1860 joined six of mining and logging camps. Hoes, Bukovec, reasonable, Jergaly, urine and Štubňa originated from the 16th century alone, producing charcoal for ironworks that operated in the Old Mountains and Liptovské Revúce.
In the past, most people employed as workers in state forests, or in ironworks. Today people work mostly in Harmanec. The village is famous by the production of specific lace, known as “Starohorská krajky” (laces), or the production of knitted black and white high boots made from wool.
The oldest historical building in the village is a roman catholic church built in the Baroque style in 1754. It has a great cultural-historical value not only for the community. The church is a parish office, which is especially popular among tourists because of the possibility to stay in its rooms.
