Mladá Boleslav
In 19th century there was built a railway and Laurin and Klement factory, producing first the bicycles and motorcycles. In 1905 the first Czech car vehicle was manufactured, in 1925 the factory became a part of Škoda concern. No doubt that this car factory can be proud of more than 100 years´ tradition.
In the historical part of the town the tourists can visit the medieval castle and palace Templ, where you find modern museums.You can also visit Renaissance town hall on Old Town Square, with sgraffiti-facade, belvedere with the exposition of ghosts. St. Gallus Church, Renaissance Choir of Czech Brethren and Jewish cemetery. Except of historical sightseeings it is worth to visit mini-zoo-garden direct in a city centre.
Anyway, the most visited place in a town there is Škoda Auto Museum. The old car-timers we can see in movement at St.Wenceslaus ride, taking place on 28th September every year. This events are connected with accompanied programme. The admirers of airplanes or its models are recommended to come to Mladá Boleslav in June.
You can see historic models, replications or aircrafts models driven by radio. In the second part of June there are taken place the Middle Ages Markets on Old Town Square. Good humour is guaranteed by jugglers and knights. This action is accompanied with musical concerts and dance performances.
In September the town organises Festival of European Smiles including the Review of European Comedies. Mladá Boleslav is, thanks to the production of automobiles, a busy industrial town. Anyway, you can find here the protected forest complex of Baba, the place of Radouč and Štěpánka park. As far as the sports are concerned, we have to mention the soccer club FK Mladá Boleslav, playing the first Premier League and Ice Hockey Scating Club of Mladá Boleslav, playing in the first division. Mr. Jan Železný, famous javelin-thrower athlete, started his career here, Mr. Jiří Hrdina, the winner of Stanley Cup of Ice Hockey, was born here.
