Hluboká nad Vltavou

The town of Hluboká nad Vltavou (4500 inhabitants) is situated north of České Budějovice on left bank of Vltava river. It was founded in the middle of 13th century by Přemysl Otakar II. Originally community, named Podhrad, was in 1496 raised to small town.

Hluboká nad VltavouBy unity of  communities of Podhrad, Hamr, Podskalí and Zámostí in 1907 it was established the town of Hluboká nad Vltavou. This place is very popular  by many visitors, especially thanks to the castle built in Windsor-Neogothic style. The castle with remarkable interiors  is placed  in the centre of English park with nice gardens.

Except of the castle, you can visit also golf playground, ZOO garden Ohrada, Aleš South-Hluboká nad VltavouBohemian gallery and Knížecí dvůr (Princely Court). Not far from Hluboká, there is situated the second  greatest pond of Czech Republic, pond of Bezdrev. There is performed yachting-sport  and further water-sport activities.

The town as well as its environs offer big choice of sports activities. You find here several cyclist-routs. cycle-path to České Budějovice, area of baseball, swimming pool, winter stadium, lawn-tennis courts amd other.
