CZ, Mikulov – The City with Southern Smell - VIDEO

Since the time I visited Mikulov for the first time about three years ago, I return there often and often fall for its charm. It is the most beauitufl place in the country and even one of the most wonderful places I have ever visited (and I have seen a lot).

When you are in Mikulov for the first time, you will be interested in classic tourist sights. Chateau, Holly Hill , historic center in UNESCO, wine… all of this are the most popular tourist places in the Czech Republic. And it is righteous to be so. It’s a pity, though Mikulov has not even greater promotion). What lures people back there, even off season?

After paying several visits to Mikulov, I am know for certain that the saying about Mikulov slogan "The town with the Southern smell " had to be made up by someone who eithers live in the town, or visits it frequently. It absolutely characterizes the magical atmosphere of the place, and the things that lure me back there. It is pretty simple – no one hurries anywhere there. People stop to chat with each other on the street. They smile and radiate their content with life. One can easily forget the hustle so typical for a city. Yet it is not “dead” there.

I love the Jewish quarter – hundred and more years old houses, gradually rebuilt, and thus with many unusual places with the view of the chateau. I love events at Efram gallery, sitting with a glass of wine on the square, and paying visits to wine-growers, of course. I would move to Mikulov for its perfect KUK bistro. I look forward to eating delicious home-made bagguettes long before I travel there. I only miss perhaps a good coffee. Fortunately, it is not far from a café in Klentnice. A way there could be also a nice hike to Palava. By the way, where else in the Czech Republic you can see mantis, stag beetle, turtle, or geckon in the wild?
